MAJOR COMPONENTS OF REFRIGERATOR Refrigeration Equipment

  • Condenser: These are the multiple tubes and fins that are seen outside of refrigerator. All the heat absorbed by refrigerant is thrown off by Condenser in the cooling system. Surface area is increased for maximum heat transfer. As the refrigerant passes through these coils heat is transferred to surrounded air.

  • Compressor: Major power consumption and heart of the cooling system. Its working is to compress the refrigerant as it changes its physical state from liquid to air with pressure and high temperature.
  • Evaporator: It is the main internal cooling part of the refrigerator in the forms of small tubes made from copper or aluminium. These coils are made of high thermal metal conductivity metal to maximize heat transfer. Evaporator absorbs the heat from foods put in the cooling sections.
  • Expansion Valve: As refrigerant passes through the condenser, it is in vapour state as well as liquefied. This is again forced throttling device called as expansion valve to low pressure area.
